Chef

French Master Chef David Baruthio was born in Colmar, raised and trained in Strasbourg. He studied under Michelin starred Master Chef Hubert Maetz. He has consulted, opened and managed restaurants and hotels in a number of different countries including the UK, Switzerland, Belgium, Nepal, Beverly Hills, and most recently Mongolia before arriving in Windsor Heights to open Baru 66.

He has enjoyed the opportunity to cook for a wide range of people including royalty, celebrities, and world leaders as well as good friends and family. He has been acknowledged with several awards for his work all over the world including a Bib Gourmand from the Michelin Guide in Belgium.

Baruthio’s passion for fresh and exciting ingredients leads him into their source: nature. Here in Iowa one can find Baruthio digging up his own ingredients on his wife’s family farm or Sunstead Farms in Waukee.
